Privacy notice
PBA Ventures Ltd ("PBA Ventures", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14724965), is the controller of the personal data we collect through pbaventures.co.uk. This notice explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Contact us about privacy at info@pbaventures.co.uk.
What we collect
- Enquiries — your name, organisation, email, phone number and message when you contact us.
- Your account — name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash) and two-factor sign-in settings.
- Orders and invoices — what you bought, billing name and address, and payment records. Card and bank details are handled by our payment providers; we never store full card numbers.
- Organisation clients — the names and email addresses of the contacts you give us, and your invoices and licence files.
- DataVis Studio licences — your licence, and for each PC it is activated on: an anonymous device identifier generated by the program, the PC name, the program version, and when it last checked in. About once a day the program also sends its licence key, that anonymous identifier and its version number to check for updates, and it may download an update from this site. During a free trial, the trial dates are kept only on your PC (in your Windows profile). No content of your data files is ever sent to us.
- Downloads — when a download link is used, and from which IP address, to protect against misuse.
- Technical and security data — IP address, browser details and logs needed to keep the site secure (for example, limiting repeated sign-in attempts).
- Marketing — only if you agree: your email address for occasional updates, and (if you accept optional cookies) how you found and used the site.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- Replying to enquiries and preparing proposals — steps you ask us to take before a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding.
- Providing what you buy — issuing licences, sending download links, invoicing and taking payment — performance of our contract with you.
- Keeping accounts and tax records — our legal obligation.
- Security and preventing fraud or licence misuse — our legitimate interest.
- Marketing emails and optional cookies — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
- Payment providers — only what is needed to take a payment or set up a Direct Debit.
- Our hosting provider (UK data centres) and email delivery provider.
- Our accountants and HM Revenue & Customs, where the law requires.
- We never sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
- Invoices, orders and payment records: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to.
- Your account and licences: while your account is open, then as above for anything that forms part of our accounting records.
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to two years.
- Security logs: no longer than needed to keep the site secure.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, erase it (unless we must keep it by law), restrict or object to its use, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Email info@pbaventures.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
